because we are fine diners: a review

For date night we decided to go big and try out the new Christopher's in Draper. Because we are fine diners. Kidding, we actually only went because I bought a Groupon and thought that 50% off was a pretty good deal. Well we walk in and the ambiance and design is really nice. Pretty high class. We walked in with flip flops because thats how we do. Oops. Well the hostess decided that the best seat for us would be a five-top, smack dab in the middle of the restaurant. Really? She didn't even ask us if it was ok: check against you Christopher's. When our server came she asked if anyone else was joining us "Umm no...it's just us...Can you please move us two a table thats meant for two?" And she did. She pretty much told us the hostess was dumb and we agreed. The menu had quite a variety of foods to choose from; everything looked really good. But since we wanted to stay within our $50 Groupon limit, there were very few choices. We decided to go with the Kansas City Sirloin and the Tenderloin Medallions. They came with salads which were so measly my little brother could have made better salads. We got one roll. One roll. Kevin asked for another which the server never brought. When our food arrived we were disappointed. The presentation was horrible: you got your meat and mashed potatoes, thats it. No veggies. No nothin'. I mean c'mon. I am paying $28 bucks for this dish I am pretty sure you could shell out some asparagus/carrots/green beans/spinach/mushrooms- ANYTHING.

But I will say this: Kevin's sirloin was PHENOMENAL. It had no sauce or anything on it and it was the best steak I had ever tasted. And I am the girl that always eats ketchup with her steak. This steak needed no ketchup. That was BIG. My tenderloin medallions were good but nothing to get too excited over. But that sirloin!!! Wow it was good.

So overall I give Christopher's 2 stars.
Dumb hostess.
Bad presentation.
Not enough food.
Skimped hard on the bread.
PHENOMENAL sirloin.

And I won't complain that it was too expensive because well it's a nice, fine dining restaurant; it's going to be expensive. I just expected a little more food.
Sorry Christopher's.

We then headed down to the dreaded P-town for a free, outdoor concert. It was a cover show for the Abbey Road album. The Beatles. We both really enjoyed it. Except for all the young college kids that scream across the whole city "Oh my gosh how ARE you?!!! I haven't seen you in, like, forever!!" to their friends and give them big hugs and talk right in front of you. Except for the little girl who stole a peanut butter m&m from me and a dog that almost stole one. But it was very enjoyable to watch all of the awkward dates go on around us. Huzzah! for being married.

Kevin also got told by two passer-biers that he looked like Justin Timberlake.
I don't think he will ever let this one go.
All night he was on one.
"Well Justin Timberlake over here..."
"I do look like J. T. huh?"
"I always did like him..."

oh dear.

  1. I second your review without the great steak. We won't be going there again with all the great places around here, it does not measure up.

  2. Bad dining experiences are SO disappointing!!! We've been so turned off lately by eating out. It's made me want to be a more "on the ball" meal planner so I don't ask Scott to take us out as much. I can cook WAY better than most of these places.
Anyhow, love your blog. Good to see your cute faces:)
