pregnancy: week 17 - week 19

Me at 19.5 weeks in Panama

Week 17 - Week 19

My all-day nausea went away at about 14 weeks.  I would only now get random days of not feeling good. The tiredness still stayed through until week 17.  From week 17-19, I have been feeling great.  We have had two more ultrasounds for baby up until now, and have loved watching the baby move around so much!  It was good for me to see that.  I was worried that since I wasn't growing that fast on the outside that maybe baby was small, but our doctor assured us he is growing just fine and healthy.  Week 19 was when I started to feel all the kicks.  Before they were just little flutters, and only in short bouts.  But in Panama, baby was kicking like crazy!  Kevin even felt some.

And oh yeah! We're having a boy!  We found out at our 16 week ultrasound (February 20, 2013). We could not have been more excited.  I had been hoping and dreaming for a baby boy.  Before meeting Kevin, I had always dreamed of having a mini-me.  And I still hope there is one in the plans for us, but ever since marrying Kevin, I just had a feeling that we would be having lots of mini-Kevins running around.

Cravings

Lots of fruit
Mozzarella Sandwiches
Salad
Flavored Tootsie Rolls
Italian Olives
Oatmeal for breakfast

And no real food aversions now

pregnancy: 4 weeks - 17 weeks

Me at 17 weeks

Week 4-17

I started to feel the all-day nausea around week 6.  This was actually exciting to me because I knew that I must really be pregnant if I was experiencing this.  It lagged around all day and made me extremely tired.  A lot of foods were hard to eat.  My diet really changed, but in a healthier way.  Luckily, I have only thrown up three times during my pregnancy thus far (after eating 1)yogurt, 2)salad, 3)and in-n-out).

My Cravings

Fruit!! oranges, strawberries, grapefruits, kiwis, bananas, blackberries, apples..
Chobani Greek Yogurt  (I had these for breakfast and snacks galore for a good 4 weeks in the beginning)
Chili
Sauerkraut
Rootbeer
Strawberry Popsicles
Red meat (philly-steak sandwiches)

Foods I didn't like

chicken
sweets ( I could eat some sour candy, but anything else like chocolate -forget about it)
baked goods (brownies, cake... which is crazy because I have always loved these)
vegetables

our announcement

We're pregnant!

This is me at 16 weeks.

We found out we were pregnant when I was about 4 weeks (November 26, 2012).  We had been trying for 8 months, so plenty of pregnancy tests had been taken.  I was getting pretty worked up about it.  It wasn't until I decided to be patient and let the Lord decide the time for us that I saw that positive sign on a test.  By this time, it was just a take-a-test-when-I-was-supposed-to-and-then-throw-it-away game.  After I took this test, I looked at it and absent-mindedly started to throw it in the trash when I noticed it had looked different this time.  I could not believe my eyes.  It took two more tests to convince me that maybe I was pregnant.
We decided to wait and tell our families until I had an ultrasound.  We went in for what I thought was an 8 week ultrasound (turned out to be 6 week).  When we got there I was shaky and nervous; nervous that they wouldn't find anything.  When the doctor tried the ultrasound machine, she noted that it had been weird lately and might not work.  Sure enough, only black was showing on the screen.  "I don't even have a uterus!" I seriously thought.  She then tried the vaginal ultrasound and a few seconds later, a little animal showed up.  It was the craziest/coolest feeling I have yet to feel.  We were pregnant!

We decided to tell our family on Christmas Day (Eve for my family).  We put this picture in an envelope and gave it to our parents.  The reaction we got was priceless.
